Reading a Map Under Time Pressure
Map and diagram labelling rewards preparation before the audio starts: knowing your position words cold means you're placing labels, not translating vocabulary, while the recording plays.
Map Labelling
Prepare Before the Audio Starts
- Study the map before playing — orient yourself first
- Note compass directions (North is usually up)
- Learn position words cold so you spend zero time translating them mid-recording

Diagram Labelling
- Understand what the diagram shows before the recording starts
- Note which labels are already filled in — they anchor your position
- Predict what type of word fits each blank (a part name, a material, a process step)

Position vocabulary to memorise cold
opposite, adjacent, next to, between, south of, along, beyond, on the corner of, at the end of — drilling these until instant recall frees up your full attention for the recording itself.
