LESSON 20 OF 20
Exam Day Strategy — Night Before & Morning Of
What to Do the Night Before
Most exam-day mistakes are logistical, not academic — wrong documents, no sleep, or panic when a Listening answer is missed. This lesson covers exactly what to prepare and how to recover mid-test.
The Day Before
Logistics Win or Lose Exam Day
- Confirm your test centre and time
- Prepare your passport — it must exactly match your registration
- Sleep 8 hours
- Light revision only — no new material the night before
- Pack a pencil, eraser, and pen
Morning Of
- Eat a good breakfast
- Arrive 30 minutes early
During Each Module
🎧
Listening
Write on the question paper, then transfer answers carefully during the 10-minute window.
📗
Reading
Manage your time strictly — move on if you're stuck rather than losing minutes on one question.
✍️
Writing
Plan before writing — don't skip the 5-minute plan for Task 2.
🗣️
Speaking
Speak naturally, not memorised — examiners are trained to spot rehearsed answers.
If You're Unsure of an Answer
- Never leave a blank — always guess with your best elimination
- There is no negative marking in Listening or Reading, unlike MDCAT-style exams
⚠️
A missed Listening answer isn't a crisis
If you miss one during the recording, skip it immediately and keep pace with the next question — chasing a missed answer is what causes you to lose two or three more.
