LESSON 12 OF 16
Essay Writing — Introduction, Body, Conclusion
The Five-Paragraph Skeleton
Every strong essay follows the same underlying skeleton — a clear thesis, two well-linked body paragraphs, and a conclusion that doesn't just repeat the introduction word-for-word.
Essay Structure
The 5-Paragraph Model
1
Introduction
Hook (question/stat/definition) → background context → thesis (your main argument).
2
Body Paragraph 1
Topic sentence → explanation → evidence → link to the next point.
3
Body Paragraph 2
Same structure — can include a counterargument for balance.
4
Conclusion
Restate the thesis in different words → summarise main points → final thought.
