This page explains what cookies BitWithBite sets, why, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal data more broadly.
A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work at all; others tell us how the site is being used, or are set by Google so that advertising can be shown.
We group the cookies on this site into three kinds. Only the first kind is strictly necessary — the rest can be refused without losing access to the learning material.
These make the site function. They cannot be switched off from within the site, though your browser can block them.
We use Google Analytics to understand which lessons are read, where people give up, and whether a page works on their device. It tells us about pages, not about people — we do not use it to identify you.
You can opt out across every site that uses it with Google's browser add-on.
This site shows ads through Google AdSense so that the courses, cheatsheets and tools can stay free. Google and its partners set their own cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to limit how often you see the same advert and to measure whether an advert worked.
Some features use your browser's local storage rather than cookies — your place in a course, a draft you have not submitted, a theme you picked. This stays on your device, is not sent to us, and is cleared when you clear site data.
If we add a service that sets cookies, this page is updated before or at the same time. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
