Decimals Cheat Sheet
In one line: decimals are another way to write fractions, using a decimal point to separate whole numbers from fractional parts.
Key Ideas
1Decimal Point. Separates the whole-number part from the fractional part.
2Place Values After the Point. Tenths, hundredths, thousandths — each one-tenth the size of the one before.
3Converting Fractions to Decimals. Divide the numerator by the denominator.
4Adding/Subtracting Decimals. Line up the decimal points, then add or subtract as usual.
5Multiplying Decimals. Multiply as whole numbers, then place the decimal point based on the total number of decimal places in both factors.
